Slow Burn heats up
Portsmouth Herald, March 16, 2011
Doug Wheaton has called the North Beach area of Hampton Beach home for six years now, and dropped us a line about Slow Burn. SB is a studio band composed of musicians from local bands including Granite Planet and solo artist/vocalist Buck Baker of Valdosta, Ga., who also contributed to some songwriting. Wheaton, now 51, has been playing in bands since high school. "I gave up music after college and returned to it when my daughter went to college six years ago."
Slow Burn's CD, "Modern Paranoia," is available on iTunes and Zune." Check out Wheaton's songs at his cover band's Web site (he used his bandmates in the studio) www.graniteplanetband.com.
Wheaton says, "Seven of the eight songs are originals I wrote and are culled from my life experiences and the eighth ('Whiskey') is a traditional folk song I arranged and adapted in rock format."
Look for Slow Burn at open mikes this summer. Granite Planet also performs four of these songs live during its shows, so check 'em out!

Great night at the Flask in Portland
Granite Planet played the Flask Lounge, in December and kept it rockin' well into what could have been a quiet sunday evening... Pretty good for a school night. More pics...
